Position Title: Computer Technician
Current Location: District Wide
Hours: 7.5 hours per day
Salary Range: $35,000.00 - $45,000.00 starting salary
Anticipated Start Date:July 1, 2024.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Providing on-site support for technology-implementations projects including internal and external networking; installation and use of hardware and software; maintenance and repair of technology equipment.
Assist in planning and implementation of staff development activities.
Promote and assist in the training of staff and students in the use of technology hardware and software.
Assist staff in resolving problems related to hardware and software.
Provide support in the installation and maintenance of the computer network.
Assist in the management of the Internet connections.
Ability to lift, move and/or carry up to 50 lbs.
Assist in developing technology budget.
Provide support for inventory, security and backup.
Provisional Appointment: Candidates must complete the Albany County Civil Service Computer Technician exam when next offered and be eligible for appointment to retain this position.
Qualifications and Attributes:
Thorough knowledge of IBM-PC, IBM-PC compatible, Apple and Macintosh hardware and operating systems.
Experience in multimedia, network environment, management, systems planning and implementation.
Knowledge of the use and operation of microcomputers and related peripheral equipment.
Ability to understand and interpret technical material and instructions.
Familiarity with educational software.
Familiarity with general office administrative software.
Continuous learner.
Ability to relate and work well with people.
Strong communications skills.
Education and Experience:
Two or four year degree in a technology related field and/or two or four years of comparable experience.
