Job Description

The South Colonie Central School District is in need of a seasonal Faculty Manager for the Winter 2024-2025 semester (November 25, 2024 to March 9, 2025).

The position of Faculty Manager is responsible for assisting the South Colonie Director of Athletics and Physical Education in game management, facilities maintenance, and compliance. The position of Faculty Manager is required to abide by the rules and regulations as established by the South Colonie Board of Education, the South Colonie Athletic Department, the NYSPHSAA, Section 2 Athletics, and the Suburban Scholastic Council. This is a seasonal position. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Handle Game Management. Responsible for all athletic events on campus with specific responsibilities for away contests that the Colonie Athletic Department participates in.  

  • Work with Grounds and Maintenance to ensure that facilities for athletic contests and practices are safe and properly maintained, and are prepped prior to applicable seasons and events.  

  • Coordination of facilities in working with Community Services and Community Education offices.  

  • Secure ancillary event personnel for athletic contests, including but not limited to chaperones, clock operators, scorekeepers, security, ticket sellers, and custodians.  

  • Act as or assist as tournament manager for league & Section 2 tournament play off activities that are assigned to the school district.  

  • Coordinate the New York State Selective Classification program for students who are qualified for extended eligibility.  

  • Represent the District at league and section meetings when the Director of Athletics is unavailable.  

  • To communicate with other Athletic Administrators from the Suburban Scholastic Council and other leagues within Section 2 and New York State as needed.  

  • Work with coaches to maintain current policies and procedures and to ensure compliance with all South Colonie Board of Education, South Colonie Athletic Department, NYSPHSAA, Section 2 Athletics, and Suburban Scholastic Council rules and regulations.   

  • Assist with recruitment and hiring of certified coaches.  

  • Assist the Director of Athletics with planning of large events (homecoming, Hall of Fame, other ceremonies).  

  • Assist the Director of Athletics in outreach to alumni, community and town programs.  

  • Help the Director of Athletics develop an interscholastic athletic budget.  

  • Organizing and running coaching meetings.  

  • Organize and help to schedule intramurals.

  • Assist the Director of Athletics with implementation of physical education pre and post assessment tests.  

  • Coordinate efforts to promote student athletes including signing ceremonies, write ups for the district website, and write ups for local community newspapers. 

Time commitment: Average 12 - 18 hours per week (estimated 12 total weeks) after school, weekends and during breaks as determined by the Athletics Director.


 

Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Effective communication skills required.  

  • Working knowledge of various sports and necessary setup and equipment to manage events.  

  • Must be able to work nights and weekends.  

  • Minimum five years coaching experience required.  

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and work with the public including the media.  

  • Must be Physical Education certified or hold New York State teacher’s certification (other than PE) and have appropriate coursework completed (NYS Coaching Phase I, Phase II and Phase III).  

  • Must be proficient in ASPEN, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

SALARY: Per Board Policy 9290 - $3,900.00 (Annual wage)
