Job Qualifications

The South Colonie Central School District is seeking (1) 1.0 Probationary Teaching Assistant Special Education at the High School Level for the  2026-2027 school year.

OPENING: (1) Teaching Assistant (Special Education) – (1) High School (Grades 9-12) 

START DATE: September 1, 2026 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

Our ideal candidate should have;

• Teaching Assistant or Teacher (preferred Students with Disabilities) with appropriate NYS Certifications.
• Effective communication skills to engage students, parents, colleagues and the school community as a whole.
• Creativity and insight into core curriculum.
• Familiarity and experience providing instruction and support for students with emotional disabilities and/or behavioral challenges.
• Experience with students with varying abilities, solid organizational skills and willingness to facilitate hands-on activities.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

According to the South Colonie Teaching Assistant Contract at least $28,838.00 depending on experience and transcripts.  Competitive benefits.
