POSITION: Information Technology Specialist III

CURRENT LOCATION:: District Wide

HOURS: 7.5 hours per day

SALARY RANGE: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 starting salary

ANTICIPATED START DATE: ASAP

An employee of this class performs information technology-related duties, both independently and under supervision.  The incumbent may perform work that is part of the regular routine of the department but they may also assist in special projects or emergency system troubleshooting as needed.

  • Performs specific information technology-related duties that will vary with each position assignment and according to the department to which assigned;
  • Provides assistance to end-users experiencing technical issues, troubleshoot the issues and provide solutions as necessary;
  • Supports an organization’s technology infrastructure.

Job Qualifications

Candidates will not have to take an exam for this title. This is a Hiring Emergency Limited Placement (HELP) Program-designated title. The HELP Program is a temporary program designed to help local government employers address current staffing issues. Traditionally, the titles filled under the HELP Program required job candidates to compete in a competitive exam to be considered for employment. For the duration of the program, this title will be classified as non-competitive and categorized as a “HELP Program” position. At the close of the program, this position will revert to competitive class status. Employees occupying positions filled through the HELP Program will be granted competitive class status without the need to participate in a competitive exam.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EITHER:

  1. Possession of at least a Master’s Degree in computer science or closely-related field; OR,
  2. Six (6) years of work experience in information technology.
  • Working knowledge of modern information technology terminology;
  • Working knowledge of computers, networks, software and peripheral equipment;
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions;
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and support to users.
