Senior Keyboard Specialist (NY HELPS) | | POSITION TITLE: Senior Keyboard Specialist (NY HELPS) REPORTING TO: Department Supervisors HOURS: 7.5 hours per day, Monday - Friday (12-month position) CURRENT LOCATION: Lisha Kill Middle School - Supervisor's Office ANTICIPATED START DATE: December 2025 RESPONSIBILITIES: The work involves responsibility for the performance of more complex clerical tasks and the full-time or substantial part-time operation of a computer for the entry and retrieval of information using software to produce printed material such as letters, memoranda and forms. Specific duties vary with the needs of the department. Procedures are generally fixed but the incumbent is given some leeway in the development of new procedures. Detailed instructions are given for new or difficult assignments. Work is reviewed by direct observation, checking completed work, periodic or spot checks, cross-checking or other steps in the clerical process. The incumbent in this position is typically supervised by a manager or division director. Does related work as required. Key Responsibilities: - Receives and organizes work to be processed determining document format;
- Prepares correspondence, documents, records and other written material in final or draft form using handwritten, rough drafts, marked copy, oral recordings or data from various equipment as the source material;

Senior Keyboard Specialist (NY HELPS) | | POSITION TITLE: Senior Keyboard Specialist (NY HELPS) REPORTING TO: Supervisors of Special Education HOURS: 7.5 hours per day (12 months) CURRENT LOCATION: Lisha Kill Middle School - Office of Pupil Services ANTICIPATED START DATE: October 2025 RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the Special Education Department, the Senior Keyboard Specialist will support the Student Support Services Office in their adherence to the regulatory requirements associated with Special Education laws and regulations. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including parents, educators, and external agencies. The successful candidate will contribute to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for students and their families. Key Responsibilities: - Meeting and Committee Coordination.
- Schedule and coordinate attendance for CPSE, CSE, and Section 504 meetings.
- Manage the referral and review processes, ensuring all participants are informed, prepared, and equipped with necessary documentation.
- Maintain detailed logs tracking the referral process, distinguishing between eligible and ineligible students.
- Handle electronic processes, including drafting Prior Written Notices (PWNs) and meeting invitations, and preparing documents for meeting chairs.
- Assist parents of new students with the registration process.
- Input and manage student information in the County CPSE portal for children aged 3 to 5 years.
- Coordinate services for eligible students, ensuring timely support and transportation arrangements.
- Oversee transitions from Early Intervention (EI) services, collaborating with the Albany County and Schenectady County EI teams.
